Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Folafol collects when you use the folafol.app website and the Folafol mobile apps, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep it deliberately short because we collect very little.

Who we are

Folafol is an independent education service for students in Bangladesh. It lets you check public examination results, read official marksheets, and download NCTB textbooks. We are not a government body and are not affiliated with the education boards or the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB).

Information you give us to check a result

To look up a result you provide an exam, year, board, roll number and registration number. We send these to the official education board system to retrieve your result on your behalf — exactly as typing them into the board’s own website would. We do not ask for your name, phone number, email or any sign-up.

Once a roll has been looked up, its published result is cached on our servers so the next person checking the same roll gets an instant answer without going through the board again. A published board result is public information; we store only what the board itself returns.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, folafol.app uses Google Analytics to understand how the site is used — for example which pages are visited, the type of device, and an approximate region derived from your IP address. This data is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally. The website has no login and no user accounts.

The Folafol mobile apps

The mobile apps may show advertising through Google AdMob and use Google services such as Firebase for crash reporting, messaging and basic analytics. Where required, the app asks for your consent before personalised ads are shown. The in-app student forum is public: anything you post there can be seen by other users. Each app store listing carries its own data-safety disclosure in addition to this policy.

Cookies and similar technologies

The website uses the cookies that Google Analytics sets to measure traffic. You can block or delete these in your browser settings without losing any functionality — result checking and textbook downloads do not depend on them.

How we use information

We use the information above only to deliver the service (fetching and showing your result, serving textbook files), to keep the service fast and reliable, to understand and improve how it is used, and, in the apps, to show advertising that keeps the service free.

Who we share it with

We share your roll and registration number only with the official education board system, and only to fetch the result you asked for. Beyond that, the parties involved are our infrastructure and analytics providers — Cloudflare (hosting), Google (Analytics, and AdMob/Firebase in the apps). We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

How long we keep it

Cached results are retained so repeat lookups stay fast; because a published result does not change, this cache is long-lived. Aggregate analytics are retained according to Google Analytics’ standard retention settings. We do not keep a personal profile of you, because we never collect one.

Children’s privacy

The service is used by school and college students, including those under 18, to check their own results. We collect no more from a younger student than from anyone else — a roll and registration number — and we never ask a child for personal contact details on the website.

Security

Traffic to folafol.app is encrypted over HTTPS, and the domain is on the HSTS preload list, so browsers will only ever connect to it securely. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we limit risk by collecting as little as possible.

Your choices

You can use the site without cookies by blocking them in your browser. In the apps you can change your advertising-consent choice at any time from the app’s settings, and you can control notifications through your device settings.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service changes or the law requires. The date at the top shows the latest version, and material changes will be reflected on this page.
